Linda Seger is an internationally known speaker in the area of screenwriting, having taught and lectured in over 38 countries on 6 continents. She has given seminars for studios, networks, production companies, television series, and film commissions, and, as the author of nine bestselling books on the art and craft.

Linda has consulted on over 2000 scripts, including over 40 produced feature films and about 35 produced television projects. Some of her clients include ABC, CBS, NBC, Disney Animation, Turner Network Television, Matinee Productions, Embassy Television, Denmark Radio (Channel 1 Television), Trebitsch Company (Hamburg Studio), ZDF Network (Frankfurt, Germany), Rai Television (Rome, Italy), Swedish Television and more.

Over an intense day, Linda will cover two of the toughest subjects for writers - How to "Make A Scene" and "Dialogue and Subtext."

Course Description & Outline

"Making a Scene"-- When writing a script, a writer creates many different types of scenes in order to advance the story, reveal character, and explore the theme. The morning session will look at a variety of scenes and different methods for constructing them.

Types of scenes include:

"Dialogue and Subtext" - The afternoon session explores all the underlying meanings that lie beneath the words, images, and actions in film, which are also applicable to any kind of fiction writing. Replete with examples from films, as well as examples from real life, writing subtext helps the writer figure out how to find and write subtext.

If Story is the body of your screenplay, Dialogue is the glue that holds it all together. Learn advanced techniques in writing true, crisp, dialogue that furthers your story and deepens your characters.
